The National Housing Trust (NHT) wishes to reiterate its position on the Guaranteed Purchase Programme (GPP), and to address a few matters that have been raised in light of continued reporting on a terminated agreement under the programme.

The National Housing Trust (NHT) takes note of recent news articles on the status of an agreement under its Guaranteed Purchase Programme (GPP).

The NHT responds as follows:
1. The public has a fundamental right to information about the use of public resources.
2. Confidentiality is consistent with the process of mediation and is a requirement of the rules of court.
3. The NHT complies with government policy on confidentiality and access to information.
4. The NHT’s funds are secure and are being recovered. Importantly, the NHT will not lose any funds.

Important Guidelines for Applicants

The National Housing Trust (NHT) will commence accepting applications for refund of contributions made in 2016 on January 1, 2024. Qualified contributors are being reminded that they may apply for refunds at any time during the year for contributions made in 2016 or earlier.

In addition, the NHT will extend the cash refund granted to eligible public-sector workers for the upcoming year, 2024. Existing mortgagors who received their loan directly from the NHT, are being reminded that they will receive their contributions refund as a credit to their mortgage account.

Several scheme developments in parishes across the island can now look forward to a brighter and smoother Christmas due to upgrades made in their communities under the National Housing Trust’s (NHT) Schemes Upgrade programme. Young Jamaicans represented the majority of recipients of keys and letters of possession for land during the National Housing Trust’s (NHT) combined handover ceremony for Hummingbird Meadows Phases 1&2 and Monymusk Country Estate Phase 2, Clarendon on Friday ( November 10).

The handing over of the keys and letters of possession, was led by Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness.
