Welcome to NHT Online.  This platform has been designed to cater to the needs of our customers, while showcasing the various products and services offered by the NHT.  Customers who opt to utilise this platform will be able to access our website directly to generate eligibility letters, select a preferred Financial Partner under our External Financing Mortgage Programme (EFMP), send correspondence, such as eligibility information, to a selected Financial Partner and make contribution and mortgage payments using their credit cards. 

The following Terms and Conditions exclusively govern your access to and use of the NHT’s website and you must indicate your agreement herewith prior to accessing this website.  We encourage you to read this policy carefully as by using  the  website  you  are  fully  accepting  the  terms,  conditions  and disclaimers contained in this notice. If, however, you do not accept these Terms and Conditions, you must immediately stop using the website.

Occasionally, there may be changes to these Terms and Conditions, which is effected without notice. Your continued use of the website following any such changes shall be deemed to be your acceptance of such change.

 

Usability

You agree not to use the website (www.nht.gov.jm) for any illegal purposes whatsoever including, but not limited to, identity theft, fraudulent conversion, invasion of another person’s privacy or for the transmission of material that is or may be unlawful, harassing, defamatory, abusive, threatening, obscene or that infringes on the rights of others.

 

Content

The NHT intends to maintain information on its website that is current, pertinent and accurate, but there may be occasions when the information shared may contain typographical errors, inaccuracies and/or omissions and be incomplete and/or outdated. Consequently, NHT cannot expressly guarantee and/or warrant the accuracy of its website content on a daily basis.

NHT, therefore, reserves the right to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions or add, change and/or remove the information contained and/or products mentioned on the website at any time without notice to you and shall not be liable to you for any such action. During such periods, information, resources and/or apps made available via our website may become temporarily available and/or outdated pending receipt and posting of relevant updates.

Please note that errors, inaccuracies or omissions do not constitute binding statements on the NHT.

 

NHT Online

A user of NHT Online will be asked to create a password when registering to use the system to make loan and self-employed contribution payments.  This user is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of his/her password or account number.  The NHT will not be liable for any damage or loss that may be incurred as a result of the use of passwords or account numbers either with or without the user’s knowledge. The user agrees to immediately notify the NHT of any unauthorised use of the password or account number or any breach of security.   Users should not use software that records password/code or safe password/code, thereby eliminating an extra barrier of protection in preventing a user from re-entering a password/code.

The NHT will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from user’s failure to comply with these security measures.

 

Credit Card Fraud and Information Theft

NHT will use the standard security measures within the financial industry to protect its customers against credit card fraud and other information theft. Registered users of NHT Online, however, accept primary responsibility for the security of credit card information and other personal information used while accessing a product or processing a transaction online.  The NHT will not be liable for any damage, harm or loss that may be incurred from the unauthorised use of a credit card holder’s information by another party, either with or without the holder’s knowledge to carry out mortgage or contribution payments or the use of a customer’s personal information for illicit and/or immoral purposes.

 

Live Chat

At any time and in connection with any product or service offered, the NHT may select at its sole discretion and convenience to make interactive online chat (“Chat”) service available.  The Chat Service is provided to facilitate your understanding of NHT’s products, services and online applications related to those products or services.

Our Chat Service Agents will try to provide you with accurate and current information based on your question or need.  However, nothing communicated in the Chat Service will be considered a legal agreement, representation or warranty as to our products, services, processes, decisions or response times.  Providing or participating in the Chat Service does not constitute consent by you or us to use electronic records and signatures as a substitute for written documents.

You will not use the Chat Service to send any abusive, defamatory, dishonest or obscene messages as doing so may result in termination of the Chat Service session.

NHT’s Website may include links to third party websites that are controlled and maintained by others. The provision of a link to other websites is not an endorsement, marketing or promotion of such websites and its contents notwithstanding that such third party website may present, display and/or represent the services offered by a subscribing Financial Partner under the External Financing Mortgage Programme. You, thereby, acknowledge and agree that NHT will not be responsible for the content and/or the availability of any such sites or for any loss, harm and/or damage suffered in visiting those sites.  Access to any such third party website is entirely at your own risk.

Severance

If any of these Terms and Conditions should be determined to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable for any reason by any court of competent jurisdiction then such Term or Condition shall be severed and the remaining Terms and Conditions shall survive and remain in full force and effect and continue to be binding and enforceable.

 

Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the law of JAMAICA and you hereby submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the JAMAICAN courts.

 

Dispute Resolution

The Parties (NHT and user) shall use their best efforts to settle amicably all disputes arising out of or in connection with the use of NHT’s online service.  Any disputes which are not settled amicably shall be referred to the Disputes Resolution Foundation for resolution through mediation.
