The National Housing Trust, NHT, is accepting applications for its Smart Energy Grant for public sector pensioners from Tuesday, October 1, 2024, to Friday, October 4.

The Smart Energy Grant, which forms part of a series of policy changes implemented by the NHT on July 1, will see public sector pensioners being able to access up to $1.5 million to enhance their homes with a solar panel system. The Grant will benefit 30 pensioners per parish each year, providing a total of 420 grants per year for the next three (3) years.

The National Housing Trust (NHT) has commenced receiving applications for the disaster relief facilities set up to assist contributors affected during the passage of Hurricane Beryl. Applications must be made by September 30, 2024.

The facilities include a special loan arrangement to effect repairs to damaged homes and a grant of up to $300,000. A special moratorium is also available to existing NHT mortgagors who are having difficulties meeting their mortgage payments at this time, as a result of the hurricane.

In preparation for the impending hurricane, the National Housing Trust (NHT) advises that it will close all locations, including branch offices, service centers, and the corporate office, to the public at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. This closure is to facilitate members of staff to complete personal preparations and to effect business shutdown protocols.

The National Housing Trust, NHT, are winners of the inaugural Public Sector Productivity Competition. The announcement was made at an awards ceremony, on Friday June 21, 2024. 

The competition, which was organised by the Jamaica Productivity Centre (JPC), through the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, was geared towards encouraging public bodies to implement innovative strategies to improve productivity and service delivery.
